It's been a long time coming, but Richard III is nearly here.
This is Bingo Dragon's inaugural show, our coming out party. The core of the company has been working together for years, always planning our next step into the wider world. Here it is.
Richard is a sizzler of a play, packed to the jowls with action and drama. It was one of the first Shakespearean plays I ever watched (Barrie Rutter as Richard, in a quiet southern town many, many years ago), and so there is a symmetry to it's role as the BDTC premier production. At the same time, it is a brand new challenge for the BDTC group - a play that few of them had any preconceptions about, one that everyone is coming to fresh-faced. It's wonderful for me, as a director, seeing these actors that I've worked with since I started directing throwing themselves into something big and unfamiliar. It's an exceptional cast.
It's going to be a blast, and it's going to be be a blast in September, at the Dukes' DT3 space in Lancaster.
We'll be seeing you there, right?
